Children's Bureau of Southern CA proudly is committed and supportive of complete pay transparency. The position of Family Support Counselor (In-Home Coaching) will pay $22.50/hour.

Additionally, the lifespan compensation range of this position is: $22.50/hour - $24/hour.

Learn more about the Job:

City of Orange In-Home Coaching (IHC) Services families referred by Social Service Agency (SSA). Families include persons SSA determines families with children, who are at risk, or have a history of abuse or neglect, including domestic abuse. Families generally include a Parent and child that require intervention or highly specific services in the home. Some Families are in crisis and may require immediate intervention services and/or resources and may be in jeopardy of having children placed in out of home care. Other families have had their children removed from the home and require intervention services and/or resources to assist them in reunifying with their children. Families may be working with Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) on a voluntary basis or have children under the supervision of DCFS on a non-voluntary basis.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive case management to DCFS intact families by assessing family functioning.
  • Facilitate qualitative surveys to patients and family members to review and evaluate programs.
  • Assess potential patients for clinical appropriateness and funding; provide intake for appropriate patients.
  • Determine the appropriateness of clients for the agency's services and make referrals when their services are beyond the scope of the agency's expertise
  • Provide counseling in school settings or other confidential spaces and travel to/from schools to provide these services
  • Offer and provide off-site services, transportation of clients and/or transportation assistance to ensure meaningful access to services.
  • Provide individual/personal advocacy and/or significant other consultation as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records on intake, individual, family, and group counseling sessions, consistent with agency policy and procedures.
  • Compile monthly statistics and prepare monthly reports as required for direct services performed by position.
  • Identify and report child abuse cases to DCFS/DHS and law enforcement as mandated.
  • Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with DCFS/DHS and law enforcement agencies, specifically aimed at increasing referrals and expanding transportation options for victims within their counties.
  • Network with other community and state agencies and coalitions providing services related to domestic violence and refer when necessary.
  • Actively participate in clinical supervision and consultation staffing.

  • Frequently required attendance for events and in-person meeting

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university, depending on the program requirements or related fields, Masters in social work preferred
  • 1 Year experience in providing direct services in human services field
  • Bilingual in Spanish required
  • Bilingual in Vietnamese is a plus
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
  • Valid Class C California drive license; proof of current automobile insurance
  • Active knowledge of Trauma Informed and Equity Practices
