Learn about the Job:

Under minimal supervision, the FRC Coordinator/Program Supervisor is responsible for overall coordination and oversight of the staff and activities at the Family Resource Center, including coordination and planning of services with partner agencies, direct supervision of Children's Bureau (CB) staff, community outreach, and ensuring contractual obligations are met.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide oversight and coordination of the daily operations and services/programs operating within or under the auspices of the Family Resource Center
  • Provides direct supervision to staff assigned to the FRC, including recruitment, selection, training, performance evaluation, corrective action, etc.
  • Provides intervention and emergency assistance support services to families in crisis, including domestic violence, child abuse, homelessness, etc.
  • Promotes the FRC's mission to all staff and volunteers; provides leadership to FRC staff and agency partners regarding FRC vision, mission, and priority initiatives
  • Ensures that contractual obligations are met; responsible for required program statistics, database integrity, and required documentation is submitted accurately and timely to funder
  • Carries out program management activities such as planning, staffing, budgeting, and program development
  • Provides administrative and supervision of assigned staff and interns
  • Identifies potential problems with a solution-focused mindset; obtaining appropriate approvals when necessary
  • Maintains positive external relationships related to the program, including staff, collaborative partners, schools, community organizations, etc.
  • Performs community outreach through public speaking or other contacts
  • Conducts regular meetings with FRC staff, the Steering Committee, the Youth and Community Engagement Advisory Councils, and the Case Management Team
  • Oversee the expansion of the FRC's Community Engagement Advisory Council (CEAC) and Youth Action Council (YAC) with adult and youth volunteers. Facilitate CEAC and YAC meetings. Provide leadership on CEAC and YAC programs and activities focusing on issues that affect the health, well-being, and public safety of residents in the FRC community. Oversee community organizing, volunteer recruitment and training, problem-solving, and developing and implementing an outreach plan. In addition, support the efforts of local programs to explore donation and service opportunities for the FRC, develop and promote FRC volunteer project activities, and develop and maintain regular contact with community organizations.
  • Takes the lead in the planning and execution of FRC events, Life Skills workshops, and special projects
  • Maintains financial and program records in cooperation with FRC partners
  • Supports and advances agency initiatives related to:
    • Trauma-informed, Resilience-Oriented Care (TIROC) and Diversity,
      Equity and Inclusion (DEI)
  • Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) reporting
  • Keeps immediate supervisor informed regarding the status of the program

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (Master's degree preferred) in social work, sociology, psychology, or related field from an accredited university and two (2) years of experience providing direct and crisis intervention services to the target population; capable of relating well to individuals from diverse backgrounds, cultures, varied income, and education levels; leadership and/or supervisory experience; ability to work successfully in a collaborative environment; attention to detail; and computer competency; or
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience providing direct case management and crisis intervention services to the target population; capable of relating well to individuals from diverse backgrounds, cultures, varied income, and education levels; leadership and/or supervisory experience; ability to work successfully in a collaborative environment; attention to detail; and computer competency.

- General knowledge and experience with one or more of the following target population groups: at-risk families, foster/adopt and relative caregivers with children aged birth through eighteen (0-18) years and those who are in crisis, including non-minor dependents ages 18 to 21, who are being served by child welfare or probation agencies and who are under the jurisdiction of the Orange County Juvenile Court; homeless families, unaccompanied homeless youth, and those families at-risk of homelessness; military families; and persons with disabilities.

  • Proficiency in English and Spanish is required

- Two or more years of strong management or supervisory experience

- Strong organizational and time management skills

- Skilled in working in a collaborative multi-cultural environment

- Ability to use diagnostic skills to make assessments, working knowledge of budgets and grants strongly preferred

- Highly proficient in Excel, MS Word, Database management
